Ironmongery – What’s that?
Hinges, brackets, knobs, knockers, catches, latches – we can handle anything that is known as ironmongery as long as it is good quality.
Below are some of the most common questions, we will add more as you think of them.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q. Do you cut keys?
A. We often get asked in the shop if we cut keys. The answer is yes. We copy the normal Yale type front door latch key, as well as all sorts of cylinder, mortice keys like Chubb, cabinet keys and even the very old Cast iron key, such as that shown here with an old rim lock from Whitstable Castle. Q. Can we order it over the phone?
A. These days we can take orders over the phone or internet, simply by using your credit or debit card details, and send goods out in the post or by courier. We deal with people, so orders are always recorded via the name of the person placing the order.
Q. Have you got one of these/those Thingummybob Doobery Wotsits?
A. We often get asked for obscure or perhaps difficult to describe hardware items, but pride ourselves on our willingness to help wherever possible. So feel free to ask if we have one of those wotchemacallits, preferably with a photo to: [email protected]
Q. Do you deliver?
A. The main way to get your hands on our knobs(!) and other stuff is to pop into the shop. If you live and work further away then we are happy to send goods via mail order. We currently have several separate internet ecommerce websites providing:
- Kirkpatrick Black Iron fittings www.anyoldiron.co.uk
- Anvil brass and pewter traditional fittings www.anyoldiron.co.uk
- Handmade Blacksmith Hinges and Latches www.anyoldiron.co.uk
- Manital Exquisite Italian designer door handles and fittings www.manital.co.uk
